Wood-carving is a highly evolved craft in Kerala, and the best examples are seen in the temples and churches. Shri K R Mohanan comes from a family of artisan from Kerala. The high level of craftsmanship in wood carving is passed on from one generation to the other. K R Mohanan has been practicing the wood craft since more than 4 decades, this beautiful craft skill was taught to him by his father. The traditional artisan K R Mohanan creates magic in his wooden handicrafts which are made of teak wood and rosewood.

The intricate carving is visible in K R Mohanan figures which are especially from Indian Mythology. He is honored by National Award for his master creation “Muralidhara Krishna.” also Shilp Guru Award for master craftsperson for the year 2017.
